Default Throttle cable

I ordered a CR 500 throttle cable as advised on here to replace my stocker. The end that enters the carb doesn't have the 90 bend on it, it's strait. Is this the one I should be using?

Dave, I don't recall one crossing over. If you get it to work let us know, I can't see how one without the curve would work.

Motion Pro T2 cable from a 2000 Honda CR250 will fit and are available thru your local Parts Unlimited dealer. Over one year on my XC300 and it's still working perfectly. The stock cable is too short and has a poor ferrule design at the throttle.

From memory, I think the PU part number is MP-400, but look it up in the catalog. BTW, Parts Unlimited has their catalogs online at their website.

This posted deep in this section, page 5 or 6 I think.

The MP-400 may be the parts unlimited number I didn't check but 02-0400 is the motion Pro number and it's the cable for 2000 CR 250 or CR 500. Both have the same throttle tube and carb type.

10-0109 is the cable they list for Gas Gas. I also found an old thread from GoFasters saying that had a batch of + 1.5" cables made up and in stock. I'll have to give them a call. I wish LTR still had the ones he was selling.

I ordered a honda cable awhile back from m pro .. it did not have 90 bend either, it did work but it was the same length as the stocker. I hten ordered the gasser cable form m pro .. it had the 90 bend on it but was ... again the same length as the stocker. I called go fasters and got one of their cables ... it had hte 90 bend and was longer than stock. go faster has them made for themselves, they are not the same gasser cable on the m pro site. save yourself some time and call go fasters

The longer LTR cables were completely different than the GoFasters cable. Not sure who made it, but the LTR cable was thicker (wire and sheath) and had a stainless braided sheath (at least the first ones did). The bend at elbow was a little shallow and caused the cable to hit the tank, eaisly fixed. They also came with a sticky lube that caused drag and slowed the throttle action, eaisly flushed out with 6 in 1 or WD40. Bulletproof, still on my '03.

The longer GoFasters cable from Motion Pro is excellent, put one on my '07 before I rode it.

Thanks for the updates and information. I'll order the one from GoFasters, I'm starting a new list of parts I need anyway. Still putting the bike back together after my high speed loop out caused by a stuck throttle.

Up to almost a G note if I include the new Ironman sprockets and chain I ordered. Few more not needed but wanted parts in that list as well but still an expensive and painful crash. To make it worse we have had the best weather all year for riding.
