Default Electric Start and the horn will not work, battery flat?

Hi
My electric start will not work and I also noticed that the horn will not work as well. They were fine when I started my last ride. The battery is flat so where do I start, the wiring diagrams don't seem to be much help so I hope you guys will?
Thanks
Roger

How old is the battery?? If it's more than 4-5 years you may want to think about a replacement. It also helps to keep it on a trickle charger.

Battery is likely done. Jump it from a car battery to verify the horn and starter work.

If starter won't work with a jump, check the fuse inside the air box.

What kind if battery? I've had some last a summer. But they like continual use. Need to use them to keep them charged or on a trickle charger. In the winter I just move my charger around to different machines to keep the battery's good. My BMW battery wouldn't start the bike, buts it's been sitting for a month or so without riding due to moving.

Do not start the car when doing this. Just off the battery itself.

Could the ground wire just be loose?

My Oem battery croaked without any warning after just a few months. I bought a Shorai in late 2011 or so. Later I bought the Shorai charger and when the bike is in the garage I always hook up the charger. The Shorai charger comes with an extension that connects to the battery and you can tuck it under seat without taking the seat off. I have never had a problem with the Shorai.
