CCK needle helped more than anything I've tried to clean up the bottom end and take out the mid range hit. Gas mileage seemed to go down a bit however.

A little more info please. Where are you located? Which ignition? Gearing? Jetting?

Hey mattlloyd50,
Welcome to the GG forum. Your question might get a better response if you elaborate a little more.

What do you mean by smooth. Does your back tire break traction and you're spinning out of corners? Are you having trouble hill climbs? (wheelies too fast)

Is it a fly wheel problem? Too tall of gearing? Carb...does the engine bog, mid range?
Where are you from? How long have you been riding? We really need a little more please.

sorry to be so brief.
i would like the bike to be more controlable from closed to half throttle, i find it bogs down in slow technical areas.
as far as im aware its got the standard flywheel but i havent had time to check its got the original gas gas exhaust and the carb has
180 main
40 pilot
n1ef needle in clip position 3
air screw 1 3/4 out

thanks again.

OK, so your in the UK that means a heavy 2K-3 ignition. You can experiment with some of the single taper needles, do a search and research the jetting forum. Yes, the CCK is one but I do not like to make blanket statements on jetting specs because if the rider is not savy on jetting he can seize his bike if conditions are wrong, so start rich and tune it in. Personally I have found the C series needles a little lean in the 250s, and have done better with the D series, but thats me at sea level. You can also retard your timing 1mm for a slightly softer delivery. Its easy on the 2K-3, just elongate the hole in the insert 1mm toward the rear, so the stator can be rotated 1mm counterclockwise.

Hmm, it bogs down in tech. sections, yet you want it smooth in that very throttle range. A bog is pretty smooth. lol...I jest.
You get the bogs, then sudden hit?
CHECK FOR A CLOGGED PILOT JET.

That trials throttle barrel should do the trick for an MX bike, let alone an enduro model. There should be max control down low.

RBDesign.com has solution$ to the EC300 carb issue. It's not real pricey and it resolves pilot circuit issues.

be careful with which one. for trials the black throttle tube is smooth, the white throttle tube is quick..

You have a bunch of things to do, CCK needle, Vforce reeds iso the boyesen ones, increase power valve spring preload with washers. But IMHO the best solution is to change it to 300cc and increase the PV preload.

have fun,

j.
