Default Ec250 Rear Brake System

Hi!

I suppose this is a common problem on '03 250 Ec's. Rear brake system becomes very floppy and if you neglect it this is too late and everyting is worn (pins , aluminium holes..ect)

Anyway the rear brake is still fonctionnal but need to be fix very soon.

I missed a nice complete assembly on ebay so I bought a other one but for a 200 EC 1998.

Looks similar but this is not a direct bolt-on replacement! The bracket is 5mm thinner , maybe should I just make a shim?

Any suggestions? Or buying a complete new kit? I have the cash if needed. Anyone have a idea of the price? (Swingarm bracket+ rear caliper assy)

Thanks a lot!

Do a search for "pedal". There are many similar complaints and threads. Yes, you can simply use washers and shim the older pedal. Others have installed bushings or bearings in the old pedal to renew it. I think some folks have even drilled it to install a grease zerk.

i'm assuming you mean the caliper bracket? the 98 used brembo brakes, and the caliper mount is thinner. it will not work with nissin caliper, and you will need a shim between the bracket and the swingarm.

i just broke my 00 bracket (brake pad end hamemered away at caliper mount until it just wore out.) - i put a 99 bracket with brembo caliper and washer between bracket and swingarm works fine.. waiting for correct replacement caliper bracket now... so i can switch back to nissin/no washer. but i actually like the brembo brake better..

Thanks! you are right! Im talking about the caliper braket not the pedal assy, sorry for my strange English

That is the info I need SS! I bought a complete like new brembo 98 ec200 rear brake kit ( caliper, master and bracket) to fit my 03 ec250.

Brembo bracket is 20mm and gasgas/nissin bracket is 25mm so I made a 5mm aluminium spacer at work today and I will try to fit it correctly this evening.

Thanks for your input about the fittement. I think it will work.

But did you use your stock upsidedown brake line to connect the brembo?

Thanks a ton for your help guys!

i misspoke. i put the washer between the caliper bracket and the wheel spacer. when i tried to put washer next to swingarm it didn't work for me.

Worked like a champ with the 5mm spacer on the inside like you said.

For sure this thing Brakes a lot! Hard to say the difference between nissin and brembo since my nissin was a neglected peice...I like it so far.

Btw I made an other fantasy brass spacer on a lathe. I just need to remember to buy some FA208 insted of FA131
