over flow tank

Anyone ever move there over flow tank from behind the head light if so where did you mount it.The mounting tab broke off mine for the second time and I think there has to be a better place to put it just have not decided where yet. Thanks

Mine has been in the same spot...since it was new. replaced the rubber band once, other than that....very low maintenance item. I think that little bracket can be replaced.

Mine has been in the same spot too, in a box on the shelf! Seriously, you don't need it, and its one more thing to fail. The one on my '03 had a hole rubbed halfway through it by the headlight wiring before I removed it Its not an overflow tank, its an expansion tank. You still can loose fluid from the cap releasing. Replace it with a length of hose and leave a 10mm air gap over the coolant level and your fine.

Thanks for the replies I have it zipped tied on now but it rubs on headlight while turning almost catches which is not good.I guess it is head for the shelf.

On a 4-stroke and KTM 2-stroke that is more prone to spitting coolant that may be handy, but really not neccessary on the GG. I ride is some really tight nasty stuff and the bikes never puke coolant. The KTMs are steaming at the top of one particular hill and the GGs don't loose a drop. What I would do is go to a 1.4 bar cap from the stock 1.2.

I would keep some sort of expansion/overflow tank on the bike. Yes, Gassers aren't prone to overheating, but it does happen every now and then. After 2 years, I finally managed to boil my bike a couple weeks ago on an endless nasty silty hill climb (about 20 minutes of continuous uphill, bike pinned and clutch being abused like crazy).

Or you could use NPG-R waterless coolant if you ride where it may be a concern. NPG-R boils at a very high temp and runs at very low pressure. With Engine Ice I've had no boil overs, even in Hancock, NY on some really long WFO uphills. I surely would address it if it were an issue, but the less stuff on the bike the better.

The OEM tank is just asking for trouble, if it leaks the system is no longer pressurized and you will loose coolant for sure. Pretty sure it happened to UncleJosh who used to frequent this site.

My 450 fsr 07 is spitting coolant on sandy and slow trails. I have heard about changing the bar cap to a 1,4 bar and I was told that a ktm cap would fit the gasser..
but this turkey baster is a pretty neat soulution.

I had mine on my 03 just cause I was too lazy to pull it off.. It doesnt really do anything. I pulled the one on my 97 250ec and never had issue on that bike.. I would rather put in a fan than run that tank as they can and do fail..
