Default Charging

ok i know its been covered and in stickys but i cant make enough sence of it

Do you have to use the trail tech regulator? i have a 4 pin regulator rectifier that should convert the AC adequatley

Ive just added a starter to my 06 250ec and works perfect but its a total loss system so when the battery is dead its dead, it was only for 1 ride as i ran out of time

So i have the yellow wire and white wire out of the generator, i only get 6 volts ac out of them. where do i go from here. I plugged them up to the regulator as i though but no joy.

Is that the correct output from the lighting stator?

Engine at idle, the yellow or white should be both putting out in excess of 14+ volts without the regulator hooked up.

Is your meter set to AC? Even with the reg in the loop, use the AC setting.

You should only use the yellow or white, but not both.

You went from 6 volts to nothing? Could be a bad lighting coil then.

checked it, sure enough one coil had become seperated. Found the wires and seperated them, soldered and got continuity now. Also took the time to remove the earth. Should have a good system that suits my starter mod now. Heaps of reading a research, hope it works

22v will boil the battery.
I'd find another regulator from a wrecker with same amount of wires and bodge it on.

ok, got 2 cheap chineese regulators now and they both give out 22 volts when revving so i gave up on that idea. Got a standard 4 wire regulator rectifier and wired it up, produces 8 - 9 volts on idle and 1 volt when revving a little, whats going on ???????????????????????

Mine put out 16+ volts ac when there is nothing electrical turned on. As soon I turn the headlight on I get a solid 12.7 volts ac even in the high rpm range.
