VIN Help
Hey guys was hoping you could help me determine the year and model of my Gas Gas. I've read back and forth things about if its an XC or EC and I believe its a 2000 but wanted to be sure. Vin is VTRXC2500010000xx

My 2000 XC 300 has the following vin
VTRXC3000129900xx |

vin says XC not EC but the motor case says EC. I am assuming they used the same frame for XC and EC back then?

XC is the US model designation for that generation of bike. Lighter flywheel/ignition, no road lights/wiring, and that's pretty much it. Same as the Euro version except for the lighting and flywheel. The US importer at the time apparently was marketing the bike as a hardcore enduro/scrambles weapon, not as a trail bike, so they didn't want the extra complexity of the wires and heavier flywheel.
In short, it's an EC in Europe and an XC in the states. Everything except the wire harness and ignition rotor/stator are identical between the EC and XC.
