Default bung beside gearbox drain bung 2002 ec300

A quick question wat is the cap head Allen key bung to the opposite side of the gearbox drain? I removed it to use it to lockwire the gearbox bung to and some fluid came out which can only b described as a petrol smelling water? Is this normal and wat is the bung for? Bike is an 02 ec300. Many thanks.

The drain at the front of the engine is the crank case drain. What you drained out was probably a bit of fuel and premix. Definitely shouldn't have water sitting in the bottom of your cases.

Thanks for the reply wats the need for it as its the 1st two stroke I've owned that has it? It's possible that it is water as I have just bought the bike and give it a heavy power washing as it was left away dirty about 2 years ago and I noticed that the o rings were away on the exhaust and wen I removed it the expansion pipe had about 100ml of water in it so its came through the broke o rings. The bike hasnt been run since it was washed and only a small amount came out of the drain plug.

The point of it would be to drain anything out of your crank cases. I think its a great idea. I have used it when I have drowned my bike. Easier to take out one bolt than it is to turn the whole bike upside down.

yeah, except when I needed it the dam thing was on too tight to undo with what I had.

Runt eh bike after power washing. If any water is left in big end for any real time, it will muller it.
