Default Dakar 2015

His red bike may not say GasGas on the side, but he is Spanish and Barreda is a stud! Not only is he still leading after stage seven, but he lost only six minutes to Coma despite riding 120km with his handlebars broken off!

Looks like Honda has had enough of orange domination in the rally scene.

yep this year is definitely turning out to be the the one to watch, both in the bikes and cars with the leaders within minutes of each other.

and how about those rookies!!! - Toby Price and Mathias Walkner in the bikes and the Saudi Al-Rajhi

Toby price has this real relaxed attitude about the dakar and just seems to have arrived there without any planning and is just doing it - his bike and kit doesn't even appear to have any sponsor decals on it and he is sitting in 5th

just watched the highlights of yesterdays stage and see that Bareda rode the last 120km with the left side of his handlebars on his lap!! .... and only lost 2 minutes to Coma in that 120km - guess you just need your throttle if you are that good!!

That cat is a machine! The little cat and mouse game with Coma the other was classic!

Been following today's stage on the adventure bike forums and it seems like the stage was a script from a telenovela ... serious drama - being dubbed salt gate!

The salt pans were wet so I think it has been playing havoc with the electrics.

When I backpacked through S America in 2002 we crossed the salar when it was wet (and spent the night trapped in a blizzard - but that is another story) ad our guides packed the engine spaces with leafy branches to stop the water getting into the electrics

Let's wait a bit. Coma is the men yet. Things will not be as easy as looks like now.
