Question Sand tyres

l am looking to fit a pair of pirelli sand tyres to my 05 ec 250 for a up and coming beach race , the standard recomended tyre sizes are 90x90x21 for the front and 140x80x18 for the rear , bearing this in mind will a 80x100x21 for the front and 120x100x18 for the rear fit , if any one has had any bike time out on these tyres or can recomend a tyre for sand l would like to hear from them , cheers

Just a note that michelin tire sizing is 'unique'. Here in the U.S. they put a yellow sticky on the tire that tells its "real size". A 130/80 X 18 michelin is about the same size a 110 in any other brand. A 140 X 18 michelin is about the same size a 120 width tire in any other brand.

Different brands vary slightly in terms of their sizing (with Michelin being in their own little universe). Bottom line - I would think that a 120 width pirelli would be fine on your bike and would be about the same size as the stock 140 width michelin enduro comp tire that comes on the bike stock.

On edit : if the pirelli's are "large" for their given size - you might consider using a 110 width. I would want to visually judge their width and also pick it up and see how heavy a tire it is.

For sand I like the Michelin S12s for front and rear. The rear, 140/80/18, has a wider/lower profile that digs in well.

I've run Pirelli MT44 and MT83 (Scorpion Pro) front tires in the past. Neither can be pushed as hard in the sand as the S12.

I don't have any experience with Pirelli rear tires.
