A Snowy Adventure
As of January 11th 2014
Gold Camp Rd was fine, I was the first one back there in the morning as small drifts were in spots on Gold Camp Rd. I got to FR379 and started down it in the Jeep with the bike on the hitch carrier but then thought you know what if I get stuck I'll be spending time digging the Jeep out and I want to ride...so I turned around and went back and parked at Gold Camp Rd and FR379 and unloaded. This is the first little water crossing you come to on FR379, getting to this point was hard but not impossible...it looked like maybe a 4-wheeler with those tracks had been down this in between snows. The issue was after the water crossing, water runs down the hill to the left and crosses over so under the snow was all ice. I had gotten off the bike to re-position the rear and front. So as I was getting back on the bike I slipped and fell, as I was going down I knew the bike would land on me, I I put a leg out and caught the bike. Realizing the bike was not too heavy I dug out the phone to take pictures...heck even did a selfy. I will admit my leg got tired because it took like 3 minutes to get the phone back in my pocket. The transition from leg to grabbing the handlebar was awkward but I managed and was able to get back on the bike. I continued on up FR379 and made it to the Single Track 626.... The snow looked pretty deep so I walked over to the water crossing. I did walk along the old wall to check out a crossing option, it was knee deeps so I said forget it. No Single track for me.

So I made my way back to Gold Camp Rd and rode East to FR381 (that is also where they have to gate up to not continue. So I made tracks and got pretty far back on FR381 Looking back from where I came... I continued for a bit more and although this area opens up it and was sunny it seems the road caught most of the snow and had drifts. As going into FR381 is uphill coming back out was a lot easier. I checked out a few of the cut offs too that people 4x4 up, but that was pretty much the day. A lot of Cardio, and today sore muscles...but it was a lot of fun in a sick way.

I think it's time for some Trellies if you're going to keep riding in stuff like this .
