Default 2011 300 six days shock

Let me first say I love my new 300, but I was wondering if anyone else has one with the ohlins shock that seems to be leaking. This is my 2nd shock i've put on it and it's leaking oil also.

How much ride time are you getting before the shock leaks?

It's leaking during 1st ride, at first I thought it was just oil from the factory but that's not the case. I'm going to ride again today and keep an eye on it. I also thought that it was gas from the vent tubes but it's just to much.

you said you put on a 2nd shock, was that one a new one as well? hard to believe two new shocks could be leaking? i have seen a brand new husky rear sachs shock leaking oil on the trailer on the way home from the dealership,it does happen, but two shocks? your 100% sure its not coming from the overflow on the carb? where is the oil appear to be leaking from?

Sometimes seal grease used for assembly works out down the shaft and looks like an oil leak.

The oil is 3/4 the way up the spring.

Could be brake fluid.
The 6 days has that extended rear brake reservoir that make be leaking.

I would think if the shock was leaking fluid, you would notice a loss of action.

The shock would also lose pressure and after it loses pressure then you don't feel the detent (clicks) when you turn the rebound adjuster.

I find it hard to believe you have two shocks leaking back to back - something else is going on...

I was yaking with my friend Richard at House of Horsepower this afternoon and mentioned your problem.

You said the oil was on the spring and not on the shock shaft right? Richard suggested you check your air filter, as you may have used to much oil. The oil runs off, drains thru the bottom of the airbox and down onto the shock spring.

Another good point is, if the shock sealhead was leaking, you would be experiencing a "pogo" stick effect. Is this happening when you ride?

I don't think that it feels like a pogo stick yet, I didn't get to ride much yesterday because I broke my foot peg. The stock air filter was pretty dry so I don't think that's the problem and I don't over oil my filters either. I'm going to check the extened brake reservior even though my brakes feel fine.
