You can use the new one on the old bike but you will also need the new bike harness with the CDI electrical connector plug because the older bikes had individual connectors for each of the wires. You can buy the GG harness or you can build one if you are handy with schematics and wiring. I built a conversion harness using a KTM harness off ebay. When you finish it is cool to have the dual map CDI.

When I bought the stator from mcc in Spain I got the adapter for the new CDIs.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the dual map CDIs can be put in sun mode by connecting the 2 wires together that usually run to the map switch, right? |

I do not recall if open or closed circuit puts it in sunny mode.
