Default 2010 ec250 jetting

hi guys, working on my little brothers jetting.... stock in bike was a 180 main, N1EF needle in top clip pos and 40 pilot. Bike had a ton and i mean ton of spooge, sort of hard cold starting and a slight bog on the main. I changed the main to a 178, ran fine at 5k feet 50 degrees still had a slight bog at 7to 8000 feet, so ill probably leave that. I also tried theJD blue needle in clip pos 3. Bike ran very nice midrange, with little spooge. Much better than stock. also tried the other needle that came with bike CHN in middle clip pos. Bike was very lean so i went back to the JD needle. Can anyone give me a needle rec?? He doesnt want to spring for a JD kit, so i think we will try yamaha or suzuki needles since we can get them for 10 dollars each. one with a similar size as JD blue would be awesome since he liked how that needle ran. Thanks!

In my 2010 I run 168 main, 35 pilot, and the "W" diameter YZ250 needle in the center clip (can't think of the whole number right now) at similar elevations. Check which carb you have as well, mine has the 38mm with a #7 slide. Don't worry about the spooge, mine still spooges with this jetting running Amsoil Dominator at 50:1. With the stock jetting I had unburnt fuel running out the power valve drain, it was WAY too rich.

Wes.

i know the JD tapers will be slightly different but if the dimensions worked out to be close with those needles that would be sweet, Jake what needle did you settle on in yours again?

Negative. The JD blue is closer to an F diameter needle. The Red is close to a H/W. The JD Red#3 is very similar to N3EH#3.

If its the older PWK AS1 (deep bowl and screw on cap) it will prefer the richer diameters by nature. Most find a G works well. Maybe try an N3EG.

In mine with an AS2 I run 40 N3CW#3 178. N3CW is a half clip leaner than the stock N3EW Yamaha YZ needle for 2007+
