Default Water pump drain bolt

Looking to replace the cork washer for the water pump drain bolt. Do I need an aluminum washer?

I've used copper too. Any small washer with a bit of crush will do though. I've had the bolts seize too. I usually replace for a hex head.

Ok thanks. What do you think causes it to seize? I would suspect the copper against aluminum? I did find some aluminum washers I will try out

I use part of the power valve cover gasket. Just cut around one of the bolt holes.

not sure, it was not the oem bolt so may have had something to do with that. Used a stainless bolt. the washer was fine

Be careful with the torque. Do it up progressively until it just strips, record that torque setting, then cross thread it in with a good slab of red silicone sealant.

Mine was the stock bolt.. Simple corrosion.. Coolant can be corrosive.. and a small hex head can easily round out with too much force applied.

Yeah had to put a hacksaw cut in mine and use the impact driver to remove it on my old 200 I recall.
