I dont know about Alberta, but getting a brand new Gas Gas street plated in Ontario is next to impossible if it has the old non conforming VIN. I have heard Alta is pretty relaxed with their street plating regs.

I just got my 2005 FSE450 tagged in North Carolina. It took about a hour and a half at the DMV but they finally took it and issued me a license plate. I had to give them a pencil rubbing of the VIN number because when they enter the current number in the data base it comes back as a 1985 model. You will have the same trouble at the insurance agency when they try to enter the VIN.

Yea so I head to the local AMA the other day to insure and register the 450 and as you have stated it took about 2 hours as they did not have it in their database ,they eventually gave me a handwritten pink card, next on to the registry ,even though the bike was previously registered as an alberta bike they want an out of province inspection done in order to register it for the street ,so I have my fingers crossed that all wil go as represented to me
