Default Gotland Grand National

On Wednesday morning, I am leaving for "the world's biggest enduro race", the Gotland Grand National. The web page is in Swedish, but you can try to run it thru a translator.

The race takes place on the Swedish island Gotland.

I am racing in the 50+ class, which has 426 participants.
There are a total of 2595 racers, split between 2 races. The pros start around noon, while all the hobby riders start around 9 o'clock. In the hobby classes we usually are 1700-1800 starters so it is a lot of bikes out there.

The track is approx 22km long and we race for 3 hours. My goal is to go 4 laps which I have done the last 2 years.

Any other Gasgas riders going?

It was my fifth race at Gotland. I did my first in 2011 at the age of 51. I race in the 50-65 year class and finished as no 328 out of 398 racers in my class this year. As you understand, I am not among the top guys, but having fun anyway.

Everything went as planned, and I did my 4 laps in a slightly better time than last year. The new bike behaved well, no problems there.

The track was dry and fast this year, so most people had a better speed than before.

If you do a search for "gotland grand national 2015" on youtube you will find sime different videos. you can have a look at this one that show helmet camera footage from one of the Racers in the first start (where I was). Approx 800 Racers started together.
