Has it just started smoking this badly?

Have you changed anything to do with fuel or jetting that corresponds to when the smoking started?

If it's gotten a lot more humid and hot recently, that would cause you to be richer, and more smoke can occur from this.
If your rh side crank seal has gone it will be sucking gearbox oil and smoking badly, but it would also run like poo.

A dead ringer for a leaking RH crank seal would be an AWFUL smell of the smoke as well, not smell like normal two stroke oil.

It sounds like you have a bunch of spooge just sitting in the pipe. I would suggest a repack of the silencer, remove the expansion chamber and light your portable torch. Put flame to the inlet of the pipe (the big end ) and burn a bunch of that stuff out. It's likely to be encrusted, but burn burn burn. When it cools off, drop some nuts and bolts down inside of it and shake the heck out of it. Dump them out, along with a bunch of black junk and burn it again. Repeat process several times.

The first bike I had that smoked like that, I was pretty new to riding. We were out on a ride and there was a really long, straight, sand hill. It started a fire inside the pipe, you could hear it when we were stopped. It smoked and burned a bunch of stuff out of it for a long time before my buddy decided it was a good idea to plug the muffler to put it out before the muffler packing caught on fire. Funny thing, it smoked less the rest of the day.

Another note, it doesn't much matter what ratio of oil you are running. Your carburetor jetting has way more to do with it.

That will lean it out more, but if it's running well leave it alone. One thing at a time and you will see the results accurately. Just clean the exhaust first.

From my experience trans oil smokes more and stinks more than rich jetting or built up sponge, it pretty obvious.
