Default How is my piston?

Need to make sure it has at least a 175 main and a 40 pilot then go from there. Also if it has these jets currently make sure they are clean. That plug tells the story of a bike that is way too lean on the main

K I'll check the jets before any changes are made. I'm thinking I'll richen it up then check everything. Then I'll follow up with a change in the mixture.

Yes very good plan. 50:1 is what the manufacturer recommends and I would think they know best. I don't believe your problem is your fuel mixture I just think it's not getting enough. One other thing to look at is make sure the carb is seated properly and there is no chance of an air leak anywhere

Thanks Memphis, and thank you everyone else for the advice here. I'll keep following up as I get into the jetting.

Check the flywheel side main seal as well. My 2013 model was showing signs of passing oil at 65hrs, which means a good chance it was able to suck some air too. Higher rpm is where it'll lean out if its going to. My bike showed no signs of 'running lean'.

I agree! Or even better, just change the seal! They are 10 a penny!

Not directly related but food for thought!

It's a good read and worth the time so your not chasing your tail!

its definitely worth saying that the internet can't jet your bike for you, BUT!

When ever I have found my jetting to be different from the average (normally richer on 2 strokes) there has been another contributing factor causing this discrepancy. It is definitely worth ensuring you have the baseline jetting everyone with the same year model has and go from there. Ignore my jetting below as it is for a 2006 with different carb and head mod!

Good luck! Once all the demons left by previous owners were sorted, by bike has been my favourite off roader so far! I can't see my self ever selling it even if I get a new one!
