Question 07 FSR 450 injector problem?

Anyone had any problems with the injector not working?

Occasionally my bike will just stop.

Fuel pump is working. (can hear it)

Took injector out and held the fuel line on it while turning engine over with the start button. No squirts of fuel...

Removed injector and connected a 9v battery to the terminals and can hear it "Click, Click".

Put bike back together and all is great.

It did it again about 2 hours later. this time I just disconected the electrical conector and reconected and disconected a few time as I thought it may have just been a connection problem.

But still no go.

So I connected the 9v again and got the click click.

Put it all back together and off she goes.

Can fuel contamination stop it working??

Do injectors sometimes fail??

Love the bike but his is getting to be a problem, especially on the trails.

They got me the first day I was out.
Right hand bends OK, turn left & bike would die.

Soldered and heat-shrunk them next day.

Any other thoughts?

It could be the crank sensor.
This trigers a pulse to the ECU to give spark and trigers the injector.
Sometimes when they get hot they can do this.
Some days they can be ok for 100miles and other times they just play up.

What type of off switch do you have is it a key or just the kill button?
some times the kill button can play up.

When it stops working check the spark and see if it has a constant spark,
if not I would replace the Crank sensor.

You could be right there.
It was a bit hot today and it was after a lengthy ridge climb.
I will put it on the list for the dealer.

It is just a pain because it is intermittent.

Cheers again.

Check the wiring for the crank sensor, They sometimes have a problem if the wiring is twisted and too close to header exhaust.

I have no FSE/FSR experience, but a lot with a Cannondale. If there is a mechanical relay that powers the ECU, I would look there. Vibration would break the contacts and cause the ECU power to drop out on the 'Dales. Varied with terrain and engine speed (vibration). If you continue to have problems after looking at everything else, try to vibration isolate the relay somehow. I ended up rewiring a lot of the Cannondale system and installed solid state relays, but its a major job.

Default Relay In Air Box

Have You Replaced Relay In Air Box? I Had Same Problem (or Similar Prob.) It Was The Relay In The Air Box. Went To Napa And Picked Up Part #ar614 And It Worked Perfect. Napa One Was Sealed Unit And The Stk One Was Not. Causing Dirt To Get In The Contact. Easy Fix, If That Is Your Problem

Default relay switch

Ronald is on the right track I think....when I was in Spain I was told by the head engineer that the 06-07 relay switch that is located under the seat behind the airbox loses its contact.

The fix was to remove cap from relay, clean contact thoroughly and when replacing cap seal it with silicone. Or replace the whole switch works eassier.

The 08 will have a sealed relay switch.

It was the same with the 05's. Go get the new one from Napa.
