I always ran 13/52 on my 250s for a few reasons. The '12 seems to have something about the swingarm (maybe shorter?) that gets the tire into the mudflap more with a 52 on the rear using the same length chain as the older bikes. I'm running 13/51 on the '12 now.

If you dont need the top speed this is a great idea, eliminating the dreaded missed shift into neutral as you go from first to second.
