Max rev on start up

2019 gasgas ec300, just went to start her up after a ride out to put her away and shit myself has the second I pressed start button it was banging off limiter???

What the hell??

Any ideas or can anyone shed any light??

Simplest thing first...

Is the carb closing when you let go of the throttle? Normally you can hear a knock as the throttle slide snaps shut. Check the throttle cable is seated properly at the twist grip and on top of the carb.

Is there plenty of fuel? It will rev high if it's very lean, like if the carb float bowl was low on fuel. Try starting it with the fuel tap set to 'Reserve'.

What happens if you pull the choke on?

I'm sure it'll be something very simple...it's just a matter of finding it!

My money will either be on the throttle cable has been pulled and unseated (can happen at either end; carb or throttle housing).. or some grit has gone down the intake and managed to bind the slide up. The first being much more likely!
