Install '04 starter gears and manual cam chain tensioner. Use full throttle when cold starting.

http://shop.thumpertalk.com/Manual_C...g_tt_mcct1.htm

Makes it easier for the starter to crank the engine due to less tensioned cam chain.

The software for reading the ECU and adjusting fuel trim is available from http://www.technoresearch.com. ECU model on FSE is IAW15P

Pond
I've got an 03 as well. When the bike is cold I open the throttle, about half, hit the starter button for a count of two, close the throttle to the fast idle stop and hit the button. Nine times out of 10 it will start and settle into a pleasent high idle.
I've done the starter gears, and the 04 exhaust cam. I haven't done the manual cam tensioner.
If you buy the software get it for a laptop.

Order the VDSTS Standard from Technoresearch. For $195 you get the software and interface cable. This is good for the family of Magnetti Marelli ECU used in the FSE, not locked to one ECU or PC, so more than one guy can share. You can adjust trim, reset TPS, and all diagnostics. I got it for my Ducati, works well.

If your in a jam a local Ducati dealer should be able to help you out as the pro versions they use interface will all the Magnetti Marelli ECUs.
