I'm with Roscoe on the fuel range.
2 weeks ago a friend and I rode up Biship ridge then to council lake,boundry trail,dark divide,juniper ridge,tounge mt. and back to the adams fork camp ground. 65mi in total and did not hit reserve but it had to been close. Fuel was about even with top of the cyl. head.

That is the stock needle in mine and probably most 08 300's but as you may find out no 2 Gas Gas bikes are exact.

That is the second position from the top of the needle.

I tried to link you to a great write up on float setting and adjustment with pics provided by gasgasman. Unfortunately his link is no longer working, but the pics still are and show how your float should be level. A light pressure to bend until level is all that is needed. Make sure internal spring bumper is not compressed when adjusting.

I get between 55-60 miles at trail pace just about 50 at my "race pace". A couple weeks ago I was able to stretch the tank plus another gallon in my pack to 93 miles. I run the LTR kit year round with a 42p, 178m, clip in the second slot. It runs a bit rich on top sometimes but almost always carburates better than the KTMs behind me.
