Default Help..

2002 ec 250.

Just put new piston in. Ran the engine through 2 heat cycles and took it for a short ride, bike was very powerful, in fact better than I'd ever known it. Washed it put it away, went to go for a ride the next day.. No dice.

Took the barrel back off had a look at the piston everything looks fine new fuel, new spark plug, new oil, new air filter no dice.

Tried spare Cdi on it that is a worker no dice.

Checked the jetting taken carb apart new jets in. No dice

Tried the spark plug on the side of the engine, seems to be a spark although not very strong.

Anybody have any input? Is there anyway of testing the coil?

Could the new piston be no good? Did feel alittle low on compression when I first kicked it up, but 'feels ok' now and ran great before on the heat cycles.

Could the power valve being stuck open prevent starting?

Incase you hadn't guessed I'm clutching at straws..

You need the following:

1. Spark > Nice and blue > Check your ground, kill button...ect

2. Compression > Run a compression check I would think it should be above 160 -180 range...just a WAG > Wild A$$ Guess <

3. Fuel >

Process of elimination....

It's getting fuel.

Compression I haven't got a tester..

Spark looks weak so ordered a coil.

Check the compression and check for an air leak.

Air leak around the base or the barrel and the head?

Check your kill button, make sure it is not grounding.

Spark plug cap.

Replace sparkplug

Check the ground wire for the CDI box..

Check all stator, CDI, kill switch plugs to make sure they are plugged in correctly.

Drain fuel bowl to ensure NO water is in there, since you mentioned you washed the bike...

Just to be sure, make sure your key way or flywheel hasn't jumped.......
