Default New to me 04 ec300...jetting help

I bought a 2004 ec300 and could use a little help on jetting this thing. It runs great on the top end but 1/8 throttle is crap to say the least. From what I have searched on the forum it seems close, but not sure where to start.
Heres what ive got..Its seem or sounds to be loading up on the bottom end but the jetting seems lean?

I live in dallas its at least a 100 outside and 500 above sea level.

main -172
pilot-38
needle-n1ed-3rd clip
7slide

Thanks Kevin

i ended up here on my 99 300. yours looks lean all over...BUT everyone is different - there is no guaranteed jetting that works on the 300... i would think the best bet would be to go rich all over and work down.

n1ed, 2nd pos, #7 slide
main 178
pilot 45
1.5 turns

Could this jetting run so lean that it would run like crap on the low and great on the top?

i have a similar problem with my 04 ec300.
mine wont idle.
currently running a 40pj, 180mj, n85d needle.
i have to have the idle screwed all the way in to get it to idle, and then not for ever. im about to try a 38 and a 45pj to see if either of those work.
also i've been told toget rid of my needle and go for a n1eg.
dunno if that helps?

hey guys.
my ec 300 ran crap too at idle and under 1/8th throttle
the advice i got of a fellow rider here is to adjust the nr 7 slide to a nr 9 slide.
pm me your email adres and i'll forward you the pics i got,how to adjust your slide yourself.(dremel tool required)
after the adjust, it ran much better under 1/8th throttle.
needle is N1EG and clip in top position (leanest)
PJ is now 40 and MJ 175 (may be a little lean) never did a plug chop test...
did still doesn't idle well (little high) but it's ok.
might try a 38PJ and then 178/180 MJ and then try to fix the idle issue.

hannes.

Bin the needle.. N1 range blows goat. ED is is very rich in the 0 - 1/8th area or needle diameter. As suggested, try something in the EG or EH range to clean things up. I prefer the N3 taper also. Much more responsive.

N3EH, N1EH. Either will clean up the bottom end nicely.

In the bottom to mid range you are running off the pilot + air screw setting then more in the mid to a little over 1/2 throttle the needle plays a dominate role on the top (WFO) you are only running off the main jet so yes it can run great on the top while the bottom to mid is way off. As a matter of fact if you don't go above 1/3 throttle you could probably leave the main jet in you tool box with no affect. Think of it as three different circuits that slightly overlap.

I used to run an N1EF on 3 or a CCK but with a 178M although generally it doesn't get that hot here. I prefered the CCK.
In tight woods I used to run a 35P.
Either of those needles will lean it at 1/8

BTW when you do this you are allowing the slide opening (which also raises the needle) to contaminate your AS/ pilot jet settings. IMO it is best to try to get the pilot & air screw right and that is difficult to do with the slide opened up & the needle staring to come into play

People keep saying that but when I had a 300 I tried endless settings with big pilots and never got it to run well. When the throttle was hardly being used in tight woods it would spooge up and not run for several seconds when a straight appeared. Meanwhile several people would pass you!
