Can anyone give me instructions on how to replace this seal as its leaking/seeping pretty bad.. Do i need to remove the casing? Or should it just pull out???

don't need to split cases.

drain oil, remove shift lever, remove water pump cover, remove impeller, remove inner clutch cover, remove cluch and basket. pull shift selector out half way or so. go to other side, remove seal, put new seal in. reverse for re-install.

i can't remember for sure if you need to remove impeller to pull the inner clutch cover. but it's an 01, i would most likely replace water pump seal and inspect impeller shaft just as a matter of maintenance.

I have never done it, but could you take a set of welding picks and get them between the seal and shifter and pull the seal out. If you bust of the seal that's in it who cares, pull it out and put in a new one.

I don't know if that would work but that's what I would try before I took the motor a part.

I could try the 3rd one from the right

If you are really good with tools try this: Put a small hole in the seal by drilling or with a thin sharp punch. Run in a sheet metal screw and use the screw to pull out the seal.

you can pull the seal without taking the shift shaft out.
reinstalling the seal, and getting it to seat properly would be difficult without removing shift shaft. the frame rail kinda gets in the way, and squaring the seal up is difficult with the shift shaft in the way.

it is a 2000 - if it was mine, i would want to tear into it a bit to inspect wear anyways.

I would bet that it's always been the same from 2001 up. When I plug that into Gofasters it shows 2006 and a 2010
