Just trade top ends if you like your chassis then. One of the advantages of the GasGas platform.

Haha and there was me thinking you had coloured in the 300 line to convince yourself the 250 downgrade was worthwhile:

LOL. If that was the case I'd have the pink one below the 250 all the way. Hahaha! In all seriousness though, can't fault either of the engines. I'll definitely be dropping the 300 top end back on in the future when I feel its time for a change of scenery again. They're just a little different in how they deliver the goods.

FWW here's the original graph that was run for the 300 with varying port timings. Note the green line signing off early is a result of running too much overlap on the exhaust port.

Default $.02

I had an 03' KTM 200, wife currently on a 07 200 XC and before that she had a GG 200.

My wife's GG 200 did not have the low-end grunt that our KTM 200's have/had, much more linear powerband but not as zippy.

I LOVED my KTM 200 as we mostly ride tight stuff. Currently on 300 EC and LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

My guess is that you might be happier going up in engine size. '

Good luck!

J

What part of the country are you in? Do you know anyone who has a Gasser you could ride and get a feel for the different engines?

Thanks for all the responses. I don't know of anyone that has a Gas Gas that I can ride. I am in Connecticut. There are a couple of dealers within 90 minutes that I might be able to do a test ride. But that doesn't give a real idea of what the bike will be like in the woods. Neither of them have a '12 250. I am thinking that a 250 will be the way to go. Now I just need to decide '11 or '12.

I've had 2 KTM 200s over the years, each for some years of racing & riding. I've ridden an older GG 200 some. IMO, the KTM & GG have almost nothing in common. the KTM is much lighter & is in a much hotter state of tune--maybe too much for some.
