Default Anyone else see the 2010/11 gas cap gasket shrink?

mine fell out and wouldn't go back on. I ordered a new cap from Hall's and the old gasket is maybe 10% smaller than the new one. I am assuming that the ethanol in our fuel is shrinking them up? More EPA fail?

Mine did the same thing, and after a few months your new cap and gasket will have the same problem. GASGAS has a problem with their rubber supplier. To fix the problem I just made my own gasket out of and old tire tube. It took less than 10 min and fixed the problem.

Run out to your Ford diesel truck and take the gasket out of the radiator cap on the degas bottle.

Fits like a champ.

Heaps of similar threads on this forum. my 07 did it after about 6 months. We don't have any kind of blended fuel here in NZ. I cut a new gasket out of some epoxy/cork gasket material and it's been fine. Kinda annoying that GG have done nothing about this - maybe the word is not getting back to the factory. Perhaps Clay can pass on this kind of info...

Dang, if only I knew someone that worked at FORD! If you could put that in plane English, I would go get one tomorrow! WTF is a degas bottle? Can you buy just the gasket, G?

I replaced my stock gas cap with a billet red one from Gasgas. It has a very large rubber seal and I expect it will last a long time.

Zeal, it isn't the cap, it is the rubber gasket...
