Carb jetting 200 EC
I've tried to search thru most of the messages and only saw 3 post about Carb jetting on 200 EC's.
I currently live in the SE and it's single track / tight woods. it's a 2003 200 EC, has New packing in FMF Turbocore, new reeds, primary seal, JD jet kit and pre mix @ 50:1. It's still spits and drools all over the back fender. How far down can I go on the main Jet? It's also been suggested to install a Lectron carb. as the 200-300's all use the same size carb, anyone have different jetting they use or carbs ???? My 05 is running a 172m which I'm going to change up, a 38 pilot and jd red needle.
If you type "ec200 jetting" into the search tool there are 50 results.

Thanks for the search info. This site is a little different than some of the others I use and need to spend more time on it figuring it out. |

Here's a thread from when I was trying to get my '11 EC200 sorted on jetting: http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16519 End result is I still have drool coming out of the pipe, but the response is spot-on and she performs well, so I deal with it. I'd guess that I'm slightly higher in elevation than you in the SE, though that might not be the case. One suggestion if you haven't done or considered is to get the head mod done. This made getting my wife's 200 sorted a ton easier and it also improves the fuel efficiency. I was initially concerned about all the drool, but after lots of advice from Jakobi and others on here, I figured out that jetting for throttle response is way more important than worrying about the drool factor. Still a pia to clean up after a ride, but at least I'm smiling whilst cracking the throttle...lol. |

02 EC200 jetting
I am really struggling to correctly jet my bike and I would appreciate a bit of help!
I'm in the uk and ride at 700ft above sea level. I have a keihin pwk 38 air striker carb I'm running a 38 pilot and a 165 main with a N1EF needle on the middle clip. The problem I have is evidence of rich running, a lot of smoke and bogging down. I've replaced the boyesen reeds with carbon reeds which improved my fuel usage massively but it still seems to be running too rich. Any help would be appreciated |

165 main seems lean to me,that needle will however be rich 1/4 -1/2.id guess when you putter about slower the bike is loading up with a rich needle then when you open up the lean main gets things hot and the excess burns off in a heap of smoke.i would try-bump the main up to a safer 175 first, then drop needle to clip2.
Altering the main will only affect 3/4 to wot.

Be careful when comparing to others jetting, different thickness needles use different corresponding jet sizes.if trawling the jetting database try and compare to an equivalent setup(same carbtype, needle, engine size, similar fuel) in similar operating conditions (elev, temp, humidity)
For eg there are some weird setups in there until you notice they run at 5000ft or on an ethanol blend! Deano im suspecting someone has dropped the main size in an effort to eliminate rich cond caused by n1e? the n1e?/noz? are notorious for a rich burbly bottom end, usually better in clip2 from top,but that 162 main is risky lean so bump it up first, then drop needle/raise clip to #2. If you are still unsatisfied look at needle options
