Glad you brought this up. I was told that the three engineers who were developing the cartridge airbox hid the negative testing results from everyone at the factory until test riders starting riding the bikes and reporting problems. Those engineers were fired because of the deception. There are two new engineers working with an engineer from another department on the 2013. I went there with a pretty long list of issues and problems and they were making progress on everyone of those issue. They also have an engineer who is working on a proper owner's manual. I left there much happier than when I arrived there.

In reality I showed her pictures of the Berg & the Gasser. She said the gasser was for sure sexy plus she likes the red. The only thing she seemed to be pissy about was the $$$$$$$$$$$ she spent on that bule JT gear. I told her I am not a color cordinated rider.

Will the battery have to be disconnected every time the seat is taken off of the e-start models since the battery box is connected to the seat? If so, is there a quick disconnect?

Clay, reasonably interested in the long list as you said previously the 12 is good and quashed some discontent about the shrouds.

Having just bought the 12 and working on a tempory and easy fix for the shrouds what were the other things on the list?

Thanks in advance and appreciate your contribution to the site.

I expect that is why the seat has that cable tether bolted to one corner of the battery box. So you can let it hang on the side of the bike while servicing the filter.

That is exactly what the tether is for.

My biggest complaint about GG in general has been the lack of info. Owner's manuals have been hard to get and aren't very good. No reccommended settings on shock and fork. No info on how to properly use the PFP valve. Also had complaints about some inconsistencies with Marzocchi fork. Issues with power valve adjustment and jetting issues. Problem with a spacer on rear wheels being too soft.
They were aware of everyone one of the issues I brought up and explained what they had done to fix them. I could tell that a lot of thought had gone into each of these issues.
One of the new engineers is a racer who worked for Toyota (or maybe Nissan) and I could tell that he had the desire to substantially improve communication to us and customers and consistency of the bikes.
Some of the problems come from the economic situation in Spain. The spacer issue on the rear wheel was because the old supplier of that part closed and the new supplier made the part incorrectly.

Clay -

FWIW, Most of the issues about the 12's appear to me to be reasonably minor and all of them can be addressed by anyone with some creativity and basic mechanical skill. A few guys have already made some simple fixes.
The battery box seemed like a non-issue to me and probably only minorly affected a few desert racer types.
It's only a big deal if it's issues that can't be easily addressed by anyone outside of the factory and that make the bikes non-rideable.....ie., if the frames were cracking at the steering head or something, then I'd be worried.........
So far, I don't see any issues like those.

They are offroad bikes after all. They get put thru hell, & usually look like it after a couple seasons.

The fact that you and GG have been so pro-active in quickly making adjustments on the '13's says a lot. You'd never see any of the Japanese handle this type of stuff so quickly, or even acknowledge there's a problem.

I think GG will see good sales growth over the next few years. There's real value there.
