Boost Bottle
Has Anyone on here fitted a Boost Bottle onto their strokers??
My mate has bought a yamaha dt125 to learn to ride on , whilst helping him tinker about with it I noticed it had YEIS on it (Yamaha Energy Induction System) which is basically a plastic box which stores the "charge" whilst the inlet is closed. I was wondering if it it has been done and if so did it have any positive negative effects on running. Yamaha have always been pioneers in the field of 2 stroke engines so they must have fitted them for a reason. Any thoughts ?? |

yes, but they dropped them soon thereafter. they did run them on banshees (balance pipe), and on the it series. then it went away. i ran one on a rd400, i could not tell the difference. there's many other things to tune how the gg runs. why add another headache?
also, the intake boots with yeis ports are notoriously weak/fail constantly....

BTW I'd love a RD400 I've always wanted one I was trying to buy one before I bought the GG .....but they are silly prices. Yamaha RD 2 strokes are really starting to gain big value here in the UK. |

Those boost bottles worked very well on aircooled non-powervavled engines. Once watercooled, valved, and the newer intakes like radvalve and the V-force the boost bottle did little to nothing and in some cases messed with the reed valve operation. On two cyl engines it does help calm the pulse of the two cylinders. In our modern engines I would not bother,, also there is no room in the rad valve intake to put the port in.. more work than return.. and yes,, I was thinking that a few years ago as I had a boost bottle from my 84 kdx200 with the 240 kit..

K thanks for the heads up ....I was just pondering the idea,I had thought about about how I would make it fit maybe too much work for sod all point. BTW will a 02 piston fit my 98 ?? I've seen a wossner piston kit for a later model for around 90 quid (pounds) rather than the std GG one for 122 |

All those old RD350 and RD400's had such a wonderful sound! guess it was around 70, we lived in one of the poorer neighborhoods in Houston, off the back of a shopping center. A buddy a few years older had one and when he blasted down the strip center it echoed and made the most wonderful noise. He let me ride it a few times, man that thing was a wheelie monster.
