Default Turn Signals

I am looking for information about getting my turn signals to work. It apears to have a plug and play set up. I have a 03 Gas Gas EC300. I purchased LED signals and a universal three prong switch under the seat. Can some one help me here? I have it all plugged in but all the lights come on when turn switch is in either direction. The do not blink.

Thanks.
Lee,

From what little I know, or been told, LED's require DC power to work
properly. And LED's require so much less power that they may not
flash properly. Usually they flash TOO fast when installed on a street
bike that uses a Rectified/Regulated system. They make a resistor
relay, or sum such devise that corrects the flashing rate.
Another thing might be the orientation of your three prong wires.
I replaced my stock GG (AC, Leonelli) flasher with an automotive
DC flasher and two of the wires were reversed. I popped them out
of the connector and replaced them in the correct slot and all is well.
Compare the markings on the two flashers and see if that is the
case.
Good luck, Jeff

I did not have the stock flasher and hence I am unable to compare. Do you by chance still have the stocker and maybe take a pic and send it to me????

You can look at the electrical schematic for the
Leonelli on page 20 of their catalog.
http://www.leonelli.com/english/general_catalog_05.pdf
It is supposed to be in english, but, this .pdf is not.
Schematics read the same in any language.
Look on the left side REF.355 Mod B
Zoom in and look at the orientation of the connectors
for "C" and "L1" and "L2". I will compare and photograph
the stock flasher and the one I got from the auto parts store.
Hope this helps.

OKay here goes. I hope I can explain this so it makes sense.
The first picture is of the stock Leonelli 12VAC flasher next
to the auto store bought 12VDC auto flasher,

The second is the connector pins. The auto part does not have any
markings as to how the (+), (-) and (L1) pins are orientated. The
schematic is on the packaging.

On the Leonelli the ground (-) is the center pin. On the auto part,
ground (-) is on the left.
In the third picture shows where I swapped the Black and Orange wires from
the original configuration.

The last one shows how I made a battery box out of some scrap Carbon
Fiber pieces and attached the TrailTech Rectifier/Regulator.

I hope this helps and answers more questions than it creates.

Bump, this thread back from the dead.
Did my last post answer "Wicitup" and "Mountain Thumper's"
questions about their turn signals? I never got a response.
I was just wondering if I wasted a couple of hours my time
taking the pictures and posting them....

Not sure about Witicup, very ungrateful, but it helped me work out the orientation of the new to old relay swap I am doing.
Once again , thanks Jeff,
Mark

Talk about bumping up and old thread. About a year and a halfs worth.
Glad it helped somebody out.
I started my (KDX200 with an EC wiring harness) project yesterday.
I am going to have to re-visit some old threads too. As well as dig
up some of my notes etc..
I may have to pull the flywheel and take a close look at my KDX's
stator. I had "Rickey Stator" rewind it for me for more total power, but,
I doubt it was rewound with a floating ground. I will have to learn how
to get the trail tech rectifier/regulator and battery to play nice with the
stock windings.
This is going to be a bigger project than I thought when I started it.
Got to figure out how to get High/Low beam headlight out of the stock
single beam socket. As well as running/brake lights from the single
fillament rear bulb. I am trying to keep a stock appearance with everything.
Maybe some parts from a KLR or KLX might fit the stock housings.?!?!?
It's not GasGas related, per-se, .....except for the harness, flasher etc..
I'll post a couple of pictures in a month or two when I finish.
Here is what I am starting with.

Maybe not everybody's cup of tea, but, I plan to make it a street legal
SuperMotard.
Cheers, Jeff
