EC300 rear tyre size
What tyre to go for; I've always run 120/90s on my 200. Should I stay with this or go 130/80 on the 300? Was going to try the M12 Michy for med to hard. the 130 michs don't seem super wide.
thanks |

I've had 110s - 130s on my 300 and have had no probs with any of them. currently running a 110/100 Dunlop 736 AT Desert on the rear which was my Desert race tyre (bloody heavy but i haven't been able to destroy it yet). Have 2 1/2 (yes, one's half used) Dunlop D756 (in 110/100) sitting in the shed which will go on next which i've been happy with in the past.
Don't forget that different brands have different dimensions... Some are wider than others. |

You have to note that michilin run there sizes differently to every other tyre brand.
A 120 S12 is the same width as a 100/X bridgestone or dunlop. A 130 S12 is the same width as a 110/X "or " A 140 S12 is the same width as a 120/X "or" Thats why a 120 michilin doesnt seem wide, because it isnt wide |

Next up on my 300 is a S12 140 that I have. The '11 300 comes standard with a 140/80 tire.

only 1 tire size you need on there, and thats 4.00 because thats the only size trials tires come in!
Seriously, the conditions make a difference. If its muddy and you want it to dig down to more solid you are supposed to run a smaller tire for that. As it gets harder and you need more surface to bite since it can't dig, then go wider.

And indeed I do have a 4.00 Trials tyre (or Tire for those stateside) on my GasGas. But its a Trialsbike TXT so there you go.
My 200 left last night in someone's van & my 300 will appear in mine tonight. Then it's tyre time. Possibly after a bit of rim panel beating. I didn't swap over the lovely old DID U rims & the 07 has a ding in the rear common of the newer DIDs. |

I have given up on the S12's. A few years ago they changed the country of manufacture and since then I find the knobs break off too much. I am currently on a Bridgestone M404 which seams OK. The knobs are rounding off but at least they are still there.

I agree, the 403 and 404 Bridgestone combo work well in all types of terrain. I'm thinking about buying a Knobby knife, just to keep them sharp.
