Default Jetting and Vibration

I just put in a larger diameter needle, and it seems that the bike is vibrating more.

So is it widely known that jetting affects vibration?

gasgasman was talking about the SmartCarb and said, The bike vibrates less for sure.

This is a revelation to me. How/why does jetting affect vibration?

Does greater vibration mean that the jetting is "off," or "on?"

Jeff

I notice the same thing. Its most noticable watching the bars and fender as the revs drop. Going leaner has reduced mine as well. Don't know if its right, wrong, or indifferent. I jet for throttle response and torque over the vibes.

richer definitely vibes much much more.. but this is not necessarily a sign that you're too rich - gotta give motor what it needs, whether that causes vibes i dunno...

this doesn't seem right - larger diameter = leaner. should vibe less. did you change anything else?

When my friends express concern over vibration, I let them take a spin on my '76 IT400. That usually does the trick

I'm with you, and no - I didn't change anything else. I've got a few needles to try - need to get out and play with it to confirm my initial "read."
