they're still sealing, the frays are extremely minor, no cracks, no light coming through them.. and don't forget that pic is about 4 times the size of real life.....this bike has run at least 100 hours on those reeds, so they're holding up pretty good, been through at least 1 complete swamping, hence the dried swamp coloration.... new reeds will go on at the end of the year. they'll be fine.

so, the problem never completely went away. i got frustrated and changed my timing. bingo. fixed. lets hope it stays fixed.

Good find. Was it advanced too far? or the other way, or just way out of time.

i advanced it a mm or so. somewhere along the line i must have set it back to stock timing, cuz that's where it was at when i took the cover off. no wonder it was flat in the middle.
i have to remember that when you think it's jetting, sometimes it's ignition
