Default Tank 200 ec 2002

Hi guys, i have just bought my first Gasser and i'm in the process of tearing it down after having a quick ride on it to know what's what.
The first bit i noticed was the black cover of the tank, one of the bits that the side cover screw into has been over tightened and broke leaving the piece of the tank attached to the screw (the top one), and a hole into the tank.

Is this fixable (with superglue etc) or does the petrol kill the glues leaving a hole again....
advice from the voices of experience please!

Sorry to say but I'd find another tank. For a temporary fix, try melting the break back together with a soldering iron. The deeper you can melt it in the better. Glues will fail with the gas.

I have access to 'proper' plastic glue...it 'melts' the plastic on both pieces, but i may go with your soldering iron idea until i find a second hand Clarke/IMS large tank for sale.

Any other ideas.....(or S/H Clark/IMS tank)?

I did the soldering iron trick using some milk jug plastic as a filler and it worked great. Make sure you clean out the gas and oil first. I used brake parts cleaner and melt it back together.

If your glue does not work you may not be able to try another fix.
