Just to follow up, I have a good running setting in the 15 250.
42 pilot, air screw 1.75 out, 7 slide, JD red needle clip #4 , 165 main
40-1 premix , 60F, sea level to 2000 ft.

N3CW needle works very well in my 2011 250. Not sure if the newer bikes jet up the same...

Seems like luck of the draw which carb, muffler and chain guide you get on the 15's.

Runs like a raped ape now! I'm very happy with it.

We run this setup in a 2011 300 and 2012 300
0-7000 elevation with no issues. Crisp bottom and clean running

Needle N2ZJ I find them for a 2011 KTM 300 XC
Clip second position down from the top
Main 168
Idle 38
Air screw 1 3/4 out
2011 has a #7 slide and 2012 has a #8 don't notice a difference between the two.

50-1 ratio with Amsoil Dominator.

phaeton,do you find any drop in power delivery on the top end with the 168 main? i've got a 2011 ec 300 and i find it pulls way harder with178/180 main jets , than it does with 175 and lower. i once in a while will find myself in a bit of a backroad/logging road friendly type of (who is faster today) type of roll on/lets go and see who is faster today type of race, and i have noticed that noise and rpm is no where near as fast as hook up and go from point a to b?
I'm currently running as2 carb/ bolt on top plate
-175 main
-42 pilot-If i recall, it may be a 40?
- nedw clip #2
- air screw approx. 1.75/2.0 turns out

I'm curious as i have felt that i'm to lean on the top end to make the most horsepower that the engine was capable of with the lower main jets, that i'm currently running?

My 300 never would run right with anything below a 178. And the NEDW would cause it to load up if I rode really slow for any amount of time. I went to the N3CH needle recommend by Rod and Richard at HofHP, and that was the Bees Knees!
