Default Love a fresh motor

For the last few months I've been hearing top-end noise. "Power valve" said some. "It's just some piston slap," said others.

I got a Wossner A-sized piston kit from (can't remember who) and slapped it in there. Nice, powerful, quiet motor again. Lovin' it.

The piston (Vertex) was about 2.5 years old (2nd one in the bike). I did the squish band mod just after that and compared it by swapping a buddie's spare head. Like night and day.

I had re-ringed it about 15 months ago -- that freshened it up as well.

I noticed the noise beginning last November and waited all this time to pop the top.

Don't let a cast piston rattle around in the bore like that, it can drop its skirt.

I just ordered a wossner kit for mine. I have always used wiseco. What was your impression of the piston when you got it?

It looked fine. The kit included everything I needed including the wrist pin bearing.
