Default swing arm shaft stuck

05 de 200 and the swing arm shaft/bolt will not come out no matter how hard I hit with a 3lb sledge! I am afraid if I hit it any harder or more often I am going to ruin the shaft and yes I leave nut on, but loose. I wish the factory would use anti-seize cmpd as we all know aluminuM and steel have a way of bonding. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Did you take off the linkage? There's pressure on the swingarm bolt from the shock, linkage and swingarm so sometimes this can cause problems.

Did you loosen the shock preload ring nuts?

Previous owner has been a f**kup Get a bigger sledge, and some heat, be sure that the frame is resting on something that answer (lay the bike down on a log or something). Heat, sprayoil and heavy hitting will make it go away sooner or later, of course you will need new bearings and a new bolt!

Loosen the rear motor mount too. Sometimes it creates a bit of a bind.

I remember seeing a few posts on the thumpertalk DRZ site that showed homemade pullers for removing the bolt. One such post had lots of pictures and complete instructions for making your own puller.

In some cases, beating it with a hammer just wont do the job. But if that's your intention my 2 suggestions would be... lots of wd-40, LPS, or Liquid Wrench. With liquids, it may take them a few days to work. And to bang it out and bang it in over and over again until you establish some movement.

A (little) problem with GG´s bolt is the "half moon on right side. Most other bike has a nut, so you can take the biggest "air-preesured-nut-gun" (have no clue whats the proper english for it ) and BANG, it´s loose

"air-preesured-nut-gun" is a LOT better than I could come up with in Swedish...

could always have someone weld a nut on the end of it and then give it a spin, right??

If it will free up a motor it might work on a swing arm bolt
