Default new to me 06 ec300...

I've been a lurker on this website for quite some and now I own a slightly used 06 ec300. My old ride is a ktm200exc (which I love), but I'd like to know if there is anything to be concerned about the 06 model specifically? The previous owner left the jetting stock and at 500' seems quite rich off the bottom. Is a LT jet kit in order to clean it up? thanks!

Welcome to the Gas Gas World. I too had a ktm 200 and sold it after 1 ride on a gaser.

The LT jet kit works wonders and should help you out.

thanks! I appreciate the advise. I think I am going to love the 300 since I only trail ride and don't really like to scream the motor.

You don't like to scream the motor & you own a Husky 125?

Nonetheless, congatulations. May you have many happy miles together.

the husky is a buddy bike. my main bike is (or was) the ktm200, which has a surprising amount of lowend grunt!

Congrats on the new bike I just bought a new to me 03 300. The jetting that works well for me is main 175, pilot 40, And the clip second from the top. I'm in Greenville ,SC where the elevation is about 900 ft.

jimbolaya,

Congrats on the bike. You will love it in the rocks compared to the KTM. Yes, the LTR kit will work well. Check the float height also. I'm just a bit south in NJ at 800' and my '07 rips.

Excellent choice! Nimble like a 200 with more grunt than a 250.

I have the same model and love it. I haven't touched the jetting since it was new but off the top of my head I believe my jetting is set as: stock needle second position, stock main, 35 pilot, 1 and a half turns out on the air screw. This allows me to open the air screw a turn when I get up in the 3500' to 5000' elevation which wakes her back up.

Congrats on the bike! I'm sure your experiences with Gas Gas will mirror all of ours. These bikes are very good and don't get the recognition they deserve.
