Clutch cover gasket ?
I have to replace my clutch cover gasket and was wondering if the water pump impeller needs to be taken off.I have looked at the manual for dismantling the engine and it is a little vague.
I have a 03 MC 250 Thanks for any help.

The water pump cover stays on, as does the outer clutch cover.
One of the water pump cover bolts also holds the cover on. Be sure to mark the position of where the clutch cover bolts were removed, there are three different lengths. |

Hi Chris. The forward most screw on the water pump cover is much longer and goes all the way through to help hold on the large cover. The round clutch cover also has 2 of these long screws that help hold on the large cover. Those screws are at the top and bottom. There are 9 screws altogether for the large cover and 3 of them are a lot longer than the other six. On a personal note I'm heading out to Colorado the last two weeks in July to ride the high country. Would you like to go with us? - Ken Wyatt
