Gearing 450FSR

My 2007 gasgas 450fsr is geared 14/50 and I'm running ~6800rpm @ 60mph.

I don't do any single track. Can someone recommend a good gearing ratio for dual sporting and around town riding please ?

14/45 gearing would be a change of 10% so your speed at 6800rpm would change to 66mph. 13/42 would be do the same also. Rocky mt has the 42 tooth rear sprocket for $20. I have used these before - they do fit.
91-93 Suzuki DR250S IS SAME AS GASSER (must be the "S" model - the non S model DR uses a different sprocket).

Is anyone running the stock 13/48 gearing on a 2007 FSR 450? Can you tell me how that gearing is for dual sporting and back roads please ? No single track use. Looking for a good gear ratio for more street use- thank you

Use your own experience with your bike and its current gearing to determine where to go next. Is your current gearing too low (not enough top end speed) or too high (not enough power for hills or too tall 1st gear making the motor stall very easily when going slow). Once you determine which way you want to go with your gearing a change of 2 teeth on the rear sprocket is a good place to start unless you think your gearing is way off for whatyou ride. An decrease on the rear of 2 teeth will raise your 6800rpm speed to 62.4mph. If you increase the rear to 52 teeth that speed will drop to 57.6mph. A change of 3 teeth would make a difference of 3.6mph at 6800rpm. A change of 4 teeth on the rear would increase/decrease the 6800rpm speed by 4.8mph. A change to 13 tooth front sprocket lowers your gearing almost as much as adding 4 teeth to the rear. A simple division of the rear number of teeth by the front number will give you the final gear ratio. For example 50 divided by 14 = 3.57 and 13/48 = 3.69 The bigger number means lower final gearing and lower speed.

I installed a 14/47 3.36 ratio from 14/50.

It's much better for dual sporting and back roads now. Didn't give up too much bottom & can easily cruise comfortably 55-60 mph.

I see this is a few months old, but I just got my 07 450 plated and I'm running 13/42. I feel like the engine is still spinning to high at 60mph. I'd like to go with a 14/42, but I read where the 14t is not a simple install.
EDM11 did you have to grind material away on the clutch slave unit for proper fitment?

Not sure- it had a 14 front when I bought it. I'll look tonight to see if it appears the area has been modified
