Default Powervalve bearings question

Trying to get my '04 EC250 powervalve assembly back together. When I disassembled it the left side sub-valve had only one bearing with the sealed side towards the sub-valve. Now, I only have the '05 manual but it shows two bearings (ME25616032) on that side. I have the two bearings that fit that came in the bearing kit I purchased. So...

Do I need two bearings on the left side? Also, as one side on each one is sealed, how do I orientate them? (1)Sealed sides towards engine, (2) away from engine, (3) centered together (seal to seal), or (4) sealed on the outside of each bearing?

I always put the sealed side towards the piston. Just to keep carbon bits out of the bearing.

So no official way? OK. Well, your logic sounds good to me. Did you have one or two bearings?

The left side had only one bearing, however, the manual shows there should be two there. I could see it being a problem with only one bearing as it takes two bearings to keep it aligned with the transfer port and held in place with the retaining bolt.

I used open bearings on all of mine. Runs fine so far! I would say open side towards piston, that spooge is good lube!

I see. I'd definitely run two bearings on it. I wish I had a picture to confirm how they went.

The left side takes two bearings, the right side has a bearing and a bushing.
