Oh, and I really wasn't contemplating changing to blue jeans. LOL! Roscoe

I'd like to try a set of over the boot pants but I keep hearing about cacthing them on things and the velcro failing in the mud. Will stick with in the boot for now.

I switched to OTB pants and I love them!!! I started wearing Sinisalo D-lux OTB pants about 6-7 years ago. I was sponsored and after trying a pair, I made the switch. I have a pair of MSR OTB pants that are my current favorite pair.
The benefits are: Cooler in summer More room to wear layers in winter pockets! I get about the same life from OTB pants as ITB pants. A thin layer of shoe goo and some old pants and I repair and add some duarability to the high wear areas.

I like my over the boot pants for many of the same reasons stated here. I think they protect the boots enough that my boots last longer because they are not getting as muddy. But I have both, use the in the boot when racing.

In the boot pants. Duct tape for wet days. Not a fan of the over the boot pants. Don't like the look, or snagging on things.

Which KLIM pants are you using? I'm trying to decide which style to get. Revolt, Dakar...Mohave??. I ride in a wide variety of conditions. Desert to mtn...45F to 90F conditions.

The Revolts are the original pants with non adjustable bottom leg closures and no venting but some big pockets. They also fit exact so my 34's were a real 34 and not a smidge more. They probably don't fit me now until I get in shape and loose a few. The Dakar's are the next step and what I use at the moment. Klim also sized these a little better in the waist and I like the fit better than the Revolts. Plenty of adjustable venting with adjustable velcro leg closures and I think would be good for your conditions. Have not seen or tried the Mohave pants but they are super vented and great for really hot conditions. Good reviews from what I've read.
I need to talk to Klim about a few things. The seam across the arse is positioned (at least on me) so it wears allot and that the thread gets totally worn away but it has stayed intacked so far. For some reason even though the Dakars I can snug the bottom of the pant the inside bottom edge has worn through on both legs. My baggy Revolts didn't do this which is the opposite of what I would expect. I would like to see the bottom made from even a stronger material if possible and although the velcro closure works 90% of the time I'm still not so keen on their setup. Would I buy them again?? Yup, I sure would and still really like them, the looks and comfort are great and I can deal with my 2 pet pieves which may just be me. I'm actually beginning to not like the looks of in the boot pants now and their is a certain stealth factor to these over the boot pants if you're not trying to attract attention in more populated areas (if that's possible).

I wear OTB pants in the winter and Boy Scouts of America polyester pants in the summer. I need a new pair of summer riding pants though. I had to retire the last pair after 6 years. I have also been known to wear jeans. With the fly unzipped for ventilation the jeans or the BSA pants are more than up to the job. I have always found most riding gear way overpriced and to bright for my taste.
