I'm more interested in what shim magic is in there, as the fork with stock springs is easily the best out of the box fork I've ridden.
I'm trying to help my brother out! He has my old '06 YZ-F SSS fork on his Beta RR dinger.. |

Around .35-37mm float on the mid. Pretty standard setup with 3 or 4 face shims on both sides of the piston (comp and rebound).. See just about any stock KYB mid setup.. A big handful of face shims on the base valve, and the real question determining how firm the stack is will be... What is it clamped on? I'd be thinking somewhere around 10mm clamp. Don't under estimate the rate on the inner cart spring. Makes a pretty significant difference to feel. |

Any way to determine the spring rate on the inner cartridge spring when I open these up? Where and how will a lighter ICS affect the fork action? |

Good question regarding knowing the rate. I'm not sure if they are stamped or if you'd have to get them to a tuner to be tested.
Lots of reading on the overall effect the pressure has on the fork. Long story short, its a pressure acting on one side of the free piston to increase cartridge pressure to reduce cavitation. More pressure is more resistance, which tends to mean firmer feeling.. although it's only one variable in the setup as a whole. |

I knew that was why you were asking Gibbo! Jpg can?t help himself trying to turn a beta into a gassy! 😜
Preload on the ics spring/less free play makes a big difference too. I have the free pistons out of the Tm in mine and they are noticeably stiffer than Ruffley?s demo. With only about three mm less play too.

I would say that it is extremely unlikely given that the chassis, mounts, and linkage have all been redesigned.

You would throw rocks at that TTX shock after riding the stock KYB. It’s that good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
