Default Winter riding

Hope to get out this weekend for some riding on the new tires. How many other guys in here ride in the winter?

Trevor, I think I would too with winter being that long up there! Here its hit or miss. You need a lot of snow to cover the rocks or you trash the spikes, that we do not get all the time. Usually get enough to partially cover them, and make knobbys/trials tires useless because of the steep slopes. No winter racing here either.

I just cannot believe how popular it's become over the last 4 years here. I remember when I started you'd rarely see anyone, now every racer and weekend rider is out once or twice a week. It's really quite cool to see 15- 20 bikes getting unloaded on a Saturday morning when it's -12C and a foot of snow on the ground!

Someone has to be the first smartazz: Yeah, I ride in the winter. Does it count if it's sunny and 60 degrees?

To be fair, I live in the mountains and last week the low was 5 and the high was 20. Lots of snow on the ground. I didn't ride...

Tomorrow, Jan 17th, the forecast is for a high of 50. Spring will be here! But today we'll see a high of only 48, so I guess I'll get one last winter ride in......

EDIT: Hey, GasGas, aren't those spikes a little abusive to that nice hardwood floor?

I've put the studed tires on and pulled them back off again. Wish it would make up it's mind and pick frozen or thawed.

Thats the problem here, rarely is the right amount of snow so you don't trash spikes, and often something so knobbys won't do.
