Nice 750. Never ridden one. Closest I got was being lent a XJ750 to go pick up a part back home. Begged to ride his GT next in the garage, but no dice. Can't even remember the XJ.

Nothing. I did nothing to it except ride it around the yard. My wife thinks I'm nuts .

Default winter jetting

got the studded tires put on winter fun! I hadn't messed with the jetting as much as I would have liked so I took some time today to make another adjustment.

AS: 3/4
pilot: 40
needle: NECW 3rd clip
Main: 180
temp: 30F or -1C
alt: 650ft or 200m
premix: 50:1

I was at the 4th clip prior to today and noticed it was taking a long time to warm up and run good, moved to the 3rd clip and wow! I can not believe the difference, warmed right up and sang in about 5 min. just a touch of spooge on the pipe.

I may try the NEDW 3rd clip as it may be running too good (id rather be a bit rich to stay on the safe side). it will be interesting to see how much I need to change it this summer once temps get back up in the 50 to 80F range (10 to 25C).

Today organised trail ride. Nice weather until it then dropped some rain, grass downhill got slippery and I had to park the bike.

Several ribs later, groan. Will miss the next ride which is a bugger. Pity was going great.

Seems a shame when we are free to ride and its summer.

Sorry to hear about the ribs. I hear applying beer to them from the inside helps the healing process.

Glad the wife bought a lazyboy recliner just before we got together. Problem is the cat thinks its hers.

Over the last couple of weeks:
- Put on AS3 kickstart lever to replace OEM that was getting dangerous as it had worn that badly that the lever was sloping down when trying to kick it. New lever works great, more confident now to kick it over with sandals on when working on it in shed.
- Had leak in radiator fixed by radiator repairer. The leak was coming from the LHS upper hose nozzle that had been bent in due to contact between the tank & the hose clamp screw. Rotated the hose clamp on reinstalling to give more clearance (I think Doc Brown made a comment earlier on this but I couldn't see which radiator nozzle was the problem - now I know)
- Put in new oversize Vertex "C" piston at 150 hrs, now on third piston.
- Changed jetting for hotter summer temps, going a bit leaner from NECG 3rd clip to NEDG on 2nd top clip. For some reason it was running leaner at WOT with new piston so I have increased main from 175 to 178.

Default Rejet and a Bath

2011 EC 300. I've had her about 2 years now. Unfortunately, for over a year of that I was fighting through figuring out why she wouldn't run right. Turns out it was the reeds, but I created a few problems for myself in trying to solve that one, and it took a long time to get things straightened out.

BUT, she's ripping once again. I always felt like she was super smoky, and not knowing much about two strokes I wasn't sure if that was just part of the issue or what. I was running a 175 main with a NE3H needle in the third (middle) position, and a 40 pilot. Today (actually yesterday, don't hold it against me), I moved the needle down one notch (leaner). Mid and top felt pretty good, but I could tell idle wasn't great. No matter how I adjusted the air screw and idle, I couldn't bring the idle down. Again, not having too much two stroke experience, I didn't want to do any harm, but I noticed that if I 'half choked' the carb, it idled a little better.

So taking that into consideration, along with the fact that I leaned out the needle, I decided to go up one size on the pilot. I figured that makes sense since its cooler these days anyway.

Let me just say...
Damn.

Its like a whole new bike. Very responsive, wasn't smoking all the time, wasn't constantly loading up. I haven't checked the plug yet, but I suppose that would be a good idea.

Anyways, after a few hours of interspersed tweaking and ripping, it was bath time.

Now that I have that sorted, I think its time to fool with the ignitech cdi and try out some different maps. Anyone have any recommendations or custom maps they want to share?
