EC 125 Neutral doesn't work
Hi, I have found a GasGas EC 125 which I am interested in but the owner says the neutral doesn't work after changing his gearbox.
I assume it must be on his behalf since the gearbox he replaced it with is brand new, but how do I fix it if I buy the bike? I've never opened a transmission. I am not that good with dirt bikes since Im not riding them like regular people. In Sweden where I live you can take a license to ride 125cc on the road. I want to buy a dirt bike 125cc (which have indicators and are built for the road so engine rebuilds every 20h is absolutely a waste) Is the neutral a hard thing to fix? How do I do it |

How old is this bike? I suggest you look up the parts drawings and have a look. Most likely, its a simple thing if all other gears are OK. But you may have to remove the engine from the frame and split the cases. It could also be just the selector shaft and the mechanism behind the clutch drum, inside the RH clutch cover. It that case, it can be fixed whitout removing the motor. Impossible to tell without seeing / testing the bike. And even then it might be difficult to tell what's the problem. Do you have access to tools and a workshop? Fixing these things outside in the rain isn't fun. Things take time, and you might need parts that could take some time to get. Remember that the older GG bikes are not supported by the new owners (KTM). We will be able to guide you here, I hope

no, those are the clutch springs.
What model (year) is this bike? Please try to locate the parts list for your model year. There is, as far as I know, no workshop manuals available for the 125. Rumors say that the GG125 is quite similar to the older YZ125, so a Yamaha workshop manual may (or not) be of some help. There are a few members here that have lots of experience with the 125, I hope they will chime in. Sent fra min YAL-L21 via Tapatalk

It is a 2005 gasgas ec 125. Could you send a picture of the springs that you mean? Like where they go? Any pic from google will do

Yes, that's more like it
I was thinking of parts 6,7,8 and 19-21 in this drawing (from my EC200) They are all vital when it comes to shifting of gears (and keeping the gearbox in the selected position)
