Shangs solution looks like the go! Cheap and effective.

I don't run one. I have the linkage off for new bearings at the moment so will have a good look at the underside, but don't think it's been abused from memory.

Fastway guards etc are really expensive. More than it costs to buy the whole rocker arm assembly including all bearings, bushings, seals, etc.

I ride really rocky technical stuff. But, as the years go by and my riding style evolves more from hard and aggressive to "smarter". It seems like I need the guard less. I have noticed that it helps to not get hung up on large deadfall or tall rocks. But these days it seems like I carry more momentum into those obstacles and tend to bounce over rather than slide on the skid plate.

That said, there are still a lot of scratches and gouges on the guard.

I have been searching for one as well. I've asked Rod Overstreet if he had any idea who makes them. Jonathan Barrigan has one on his bike. It may be Geco? Shang's idea looks good though.

I bought an OBIE link protector for a (cough, cough) BETA to install on my bike.

It will fit, I just have to shorten it 2"

Pics coming soon.

If I could could go without my bike for week, Obie would use it to make one for our bikes. When he asked me about it he said if I let him use my bike, he'd sell me one for $25.... I was a little dissapoinent in the $25 price so I didn't do it. I know, I'm lame....
